Project four's thinking skill is synthesis.
Anti-LGBTQ+ Countries
The LGBTQ+ community is more accepted in the United States, but move to other countries, the community isn't as lucky. I decided to focus on countries that aren't accepting of people of the LGBTQ+.
-Art-
The last thing I wanted to create was a collage, due to the failure of my last one. In the end, I decided to do another! The thinking skill synthesis, matched the idea of a collage. This time, I created the collage on the app, Photoshop. The collage was all about the idea of "coming out of the closet" in the countries Myanmar and Malaysia. My artist influence is Ben Lewis Giles.

Process:
With a new app, it's hard to get used to the commands, so I made notes on each access option. Week One: I didn't know what color to put as the background, so the dull pink took the job. I then found a picture of a closet door, space, a couple of eyes, and got to work. Week Two: I have more of an idea what I want the collage to look like now. I gathered balloons, flowers, grass pieces, and hands. The background is now different shades of blue. Week Three: I added a more grass pieces, an elephant, and a thunderstorm. |
-English-
One of the required standards for English II is to write an argumentative essay. I have not created one, so figuring out what I wanted to do for english was easy. My thesis of the argumentative essay is settling down the violence on the LGBTQ+ community in Myanmar, Malaysia, and Brazil. I believe that the community doesn't deserve being attacked and discriminated.
The essay fits into synthesizing by combining three countries, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Brazil, and finding what they have in common. All three countries have a hatred towards the LGBTQ+ community.
-History-
The history portion of my piece was more of a persuasive piece. I made a guidebook for three different religions. The purpose of the guide was to inform the reader of their religion and helping them understand and show compassion towards the LGBTQ+ community. I mentioned that the followers of the religion are unable to judge people of the community, because that is God's job.
I used the thinking skill synthesis in the guidebook. I researched verses from the Bible and the Koran to identify the verses people use to oppose the LGBTQ+. Then, I collected more verses to help my argument of accepting everyone and letting God be the judge. On a couple of pages, I gave steps or suggestions for the reader to follow when they would try to convince their peers to accept the community. Synthesizing was also present when I discussed the religion Buddhism. The appearance of Buddhism was to give an example of a religion that was accepting of all people.
